“Dogo Miyu.”
A modern-day hot-spring cure where the mind is liberated by high-quality hospitality.
Dogo Miyu is a hot spring hotel for modern-day hot-spring cures where you can enjoy the natural healing power of the famous Dogo hot spring to your heart’s content in a space with the ultimate in Japanese ryokan sophistication. We spoke to sales manager Kana Higuchi about her commitment to hospitality, which is full of “extraordinary everyday wear.”
Be healed by the hot water of Dogo in the “superb view” bath overlooking the whole Matsuyama Castle.
Although there are many Dogo Onsen lodges, this may be the only one with a large bath where you can enjoy a sense of freedom. The Dogo Miyu is located on a hilltop in the Dogo Onsen town and has an observation bath on the top floor of the 8th floor. You can stretch your wings in the alkali-simple hot spring, which is safe for pregnant women, while enjoying the “eye candy” of a panoramic view of Matsuyama Castle. “After taking a bath, you can spend your time in the Sky Lounge or on the rooftop deck,” says Higuchi. Free drinks and free rental Imabari towels to wrap up your skin after a hot bath are just two of the many pleasures of hospitality.
After taking a hot bath, enjoy a luxurious time in the Sky Lounge. When you feel like cooling off, go straight to the rooftop terrace.
The building has a Japanese-style appearance reminiscent of the “Yudar of Iyo,” which appears in the Tale of Genji. At night, about 300 LED lights are gently lit, making the entire building look like a lantern.

Adorning the walls of the Sky Lounge is “Matrix I” by Takuro Nishinaga, an iron artist from Ehime Prefecture. The three-dimensional object, with its multiple layers of geometric holes, was created by randomly using discarded steel plates. The free atmosphere of the artist’s intentions being unleashed and created resonates comfortably to the five senses after a hot bath!

At the shop, “Metal Accessories” made at Nishinaga Industry, a factory in Iyo, headed by Mr. Takuro Nishinaga, are now on sale. The motifs of specialties and animals representing Ehime Prefecture are soft and warm, overturning the image of inorganic iron!
To the peace of mind of an extraordinary life in a guest room of the highest quality of Japanese Inn.
After healing your body and mind in the bath with a view, the guest rooms combine the comfort of tatami mats with modern functionality to gently envelop your body and mind. Higuchi says, “We carefully selected the guest rooms to ensure that they are comfortable and in harmony with the atmosphere of each part of the house.” In addition, all rooms are equipped with the latest open-air bathing system that allows guests to enjoy a 24-hour “guest room hot-spring cure”. The hospitality at the very top of the quality of Japanese inns known around the world as “RYOKAN” invites you to an extraordinary peaceful stay.
Enjoy the blessings of Japan’s oldest hot spring resort in a private open-air bath with a great view.
Casual details such as KASHIWA, a prestigious brand of Hida furniture, and a teapot made of traditional Ehime craftsmanship, such as Tobe ware, are carefully considered in every detail.

On the walls of the bed (in some guest rooms) is Gilding Washi, made by the Ikazaki Company, based in Ikazaki, Uchiko-cho, Ehime Prefecture. They were the first company in the world to succeed in applying gilding (metal foil) to Washi, and it is a breathtaking work of art!

The glass screen in front of the entrance using “koyori washi” (Japanese paper) is also a masterpiece created by the artisans of the Ikazaki company. Gilding Washi postcards are also available at the shop!
You will be satisfied from the depths of your senses with a dining experience that is full of the specialties of Ehime.
A dining experience that can only be enjoyed at Dogo Miyu. It is the marriage of food, space and hospitality of the staff. Higuchi says, “We use fresh local ingredients such as Ehime sea bream from the Seto Inland Sea, Iyo beef and vegetables from the prefecture.” The luxurious, creative cuisine served in beautiful dishes in a modern, Japanese-style space with a stone garden and two types of iron objects will enrich your trip to the “modern hot spring cure”.
Artwork accentuates the Japanese atmosphere of the Iyo’s artisanal interiors for an adult dining experience.
A garden that looks as if it were cut directly out of a wooded area of Ehime and a chalk-white lobby inspired by the Iyo Satoyama (a mountainous region of Japan) make the hotel feel like a relaxing place to visit.

The plates used in the dining room are made of Kikuma tiles, a traditional craftsmanship from Ehime Prefecture with a history dating back 750 years. The chic colors not only enhance the vibrant food, but also keep the food from getting cold!

The room number nameplates and the frog furniture in the lobby are actually made by Kikuma Tawara. The coasters and chopstick rests sold at the shop are popular items!
