- We, Tango Corporation, are an old and new towel factory that was born after taking over a towel factory that had been in existence for 90 years, which had no successor and had decided to close down its business. Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, where Tango Co. is located, is the largest towel production area in Japan. In its heyday, the city prospered with more than 500 factories and has accumulated a lot of know-how over its 120-year history. However, there is no hiding the fact that Imabari is currently facing the problem of depopulation and aging. I have no relatives and no experience. We had decided to close down our business, so with zero sales and zero clients, and with a strong desire to connect that history with the rest of the world, we started Tango Inc. on July 7, 2015 with neither a challenge nor a hang-up. The predecessor company of Tango Co., Ltd. was founded in 1925 as a towel manufacturer. Since then, over 90 years have passed on the tradition to our skilled workers who are skilled in the art of towel making. We do not have the latest equipment in our factory. We can never match the latest high-speed looms in terms of production volume. However, the towels woven on traditional looms, which are lovingly handled and used day in and day out by skilled craftsmen, have a gentleness of touch and feel that cannot be found on high-speed looms. It is only in a perfected production area where outstanding craftsmanship, from material selection to weaving, dyeing, and post-treatment, collaborates with each other, that we are able to produce new products that cannot be imitated by others. It is precisely because we live in an age of overflowing goods that we have a desire to convey our message. We believe in "monozukuri", which conveys our wish to "deliver happiness through towels" to the daily lives of our users. We would like to convey the background of our craftsmanship and bring "Japanese craftsmanship closer to you" and to the future.
